The Social Security Process is a nightmare for most people to deal with, especially when there is limited expertise on navigating the system. At first there were not enough attorneys who handled Disability claims and so more and more people were going without representation and forced to try to make their own way through the intricacies of the system. Then in 2004, in order to help alleviate the ever-growing number of applicants for Social Security Disability, a new law was passed.  This law allowed Disability Advocates, such as Mark Smith II, to represent disability applicants through the intensive process that is the Social Security System.  This law gave the ability for Advocates to have the same representational authority as an attorney.
